I have the Vortex, but it was on the car when I got it. Seems like a quality piece, but I can't speak to the performance gain.

LOT of people had issues with Vortex's poor quality initially but I'm not sure if they fixed it or not, I'm sure they did, over all it's a pretty cool system. I personally, went with the free open-lid modification with a K&N filter. If I was buying an intake, I'd go with the SLP claw just for looks, they should all gain roughly the same.

Re: VORTEX RAM AIR OR COLD AIR INDUCTION (1990CORVETTE)
If you just cut a rectangle out of the very front of the radiator shroud and enclose your standard lid with perspex, leaving just an open rectangle at the front (And if you want to go all out, put a wing poking down a bit into the oncoming airflow) it should be both a ram type idea AND given intake air is cold (Well, a lot colder than engine bay temp air) you should have BOTH.
Have seen it done and just cut mine
(OH, and it's free albut the plastic)
