I thought I had some of my eletrical problems fixed but apparently not, I replaced my battery, checked my draw-was very low car sat one week and the new battery is totally dead, I may have to sell this thing-there is no one around here that can work on them now ive still got this, my overdrive needs rebuilt and tires are shot-looks like it will spend spring sitting as a lawn ornament
Ben

Ben - it does sound like it needs a good amount of work. Did you just get it?? hopefully things work out for you
I would take them one at a time. Search around for a way to get your tranny back first. You can find a reliable tranny shop near you. I find word of mouth works best. If they are not experienced at vette rebuilds, and don't offer a good warrenty, you can investigate getting a rebuilt unit from a couple of sources here on the forum, and have them put them in. But it does look like a couple of grand.
I would do tires next. Again a grand, but the forum can provide you good recommendations.
Regarding batery draining, might not be a real issue. I keep mine on a battery tender so the car can sit for a week and the battery is fresh. You can buy or borrow an amp meter and see how much power is draining. You may not really have a problem. If the drainage is too high, then pull out the fuses one by one till you find the circuit causing the problem. Makes trouble shootling a lot more manageble.
I know it get's overwhelming, but with patience and $$$$ it can be back on the road again!
#1 take a test light , pull the Pos battery cable off put the test light between the pos cable and the battery , next start pulling fuses the radio fuse should
draw power if you find a circuit that should not be drawing power that may be your problem. check one thing at a time and take your time and you will fix it. :yesnod: :flag
I have done the troubleshooting for the battery drain and cannot find it-it has to be intermittent somewhere but i have no idea where-i listed it in the for sale section-its a really nice car and runs good but in my current situation I cannot afford to keep it up and I do not want to leave it sitting its been well maintained but just needs some TLC I would not hesitiate to drive it anywhere, I drove it 6hrs from houston a few months ago with no issues-runs cool, cold air I just dont have the time, money or workspace to do things like rebuild the o/d and so on. If i can sell it i plan on paying off some bills and either getting a nice 95-96 or a C5 in a few months

I would get the overdive fixed if you can post a wtb and in parts to see if you gan get one inexpensively. So many people buying cars are afraid of tranny problems. You cold part it out and make some good cash but it would be slow.I would just replace things as i can i sure someone has tires laying around on the fourm willing to help you out most of us are going thru several sets a year.Email me maybe i check with some sources here for parts.
Thanks crash, I have had my eye out for a o/d for a while, none a priced in my range ever, i was going to send mine off but i dont have anwhere to store the car while the trans is out-only option would be to drive it somewhere, take the stuff out, have it towed home to the carport then towed back and i just cant afford it between the insurance and everything else ive got going on it will do me better to just sell it as is and get a newer car later on

Disconnect the underhood lights and see if the battery drain goes away. Or, if you don't mind losing your radio presets, pull the Courtesy/Clock fuse. If it has a Bose radio, sometimes the amp relay can play havoc with the battery.

The underhood lights are disconn. and the bose is long gone but thanks for the advice :D
I am going to see if it sells for what i want for it, if it does not then I will try and fix it but I really cannot afford it
Thanks for the encouragement and bumps guys!

If you change your mind or it does not sell, I have a set of 4 tires and sawblade rims off of my 92 I would make you a good deal on as a package deal. I might even be close enough to you that you might consider comeing and picking them up vs. shipping cost? I am a bout a 5 1/2 hr drive to Monroe, LA
