Default tranny rebuilt now a noise

I just had my transmission rebuilt and I now hear a definate clunk from the rear end everytime the car shifts from second to third at slow speeds. I took it back and the shop says the noise is too far back to be the transmission but they would be happy to troubleshoot it (more money!) The car never made this noise before, any suggestions? Its a 96 Automatic with 67000 miles.

I agree that the noise is probably further back but it was probably the shop that screwed up your u joints on the driveshaft. LOL getting them to admit it let alone fix it. I would not drive it until I checked it out . Could be a joint that was not properly seated in the yoke. Get it fixed soon or could cost big $$$.

:iagree:

May just not have been tightened up(the u-joint bolts). Get under there and look yourself to see if anything is loose before you drive it more.
