I see some of you have done mods to change your shift points on your 700r4, and i was wondering what are the optimum shift points, and how you change them.

Re: Changing 700r4 shift points.... (Wheelman)
 I have modified mine by playing around with the TV cable adjustment. Can't give you any well defined prameters, hjust kind of hit and miss. Doesn't even try to shift into OD/lock up till I let off the gas at over 55 mph. Wish I could be more specific :bb
The optimum shift points depend on your engine. And gearing to a degree. Every car is different. You will have to experiment to find yours. To change the shift points, you have to recalibrate the governer. Several companies sell a recal kit, with a varity of weights and springs. It's kind of like recurving an old centrifugal advance distributor.
Yep, I remember that post. Since then the tranny was completely gone thru and a few extras added. First a B&M shift kit. A twelve vane oil pump, and a 4th gear servo kit. My tranny guy also setup the governor cover with a bail clip like the turbo 350-400. This way I can open the governor for fly-weight changes without too much hassle... I'll have more to report once everything is back together...
