I have been seeking front hubs for my 89 (with ABS).
The ones I have come across are different from the original ones fitted to my car. The new ones all seem to be shorter in the distance between the part of the hub that the studs go through and the wheel /disc centre locating part. The original ones are 28mm; the new ones 21mm. This seems to be the case for both non-GM and GM parts. Does anyone know why the specifiction was altered, and does anyone know where I can get orignal dimension new hubs?
Not sure what dimension you're referring to, but never the less, most of the aftermarket hubs are OE units but in private label boxes. I believe that SKF makes them too, but again most were made by a former GM division that was known as "New Departure Hyatt". I have seen these in Chicago Rawhide, Delco, and BCA boxes. The ones I've seen have been identical in every respect. Some guys have advocated using F-Body front hubs that are much cheaper (retail) but the studs are different and I believe must be changed over. I've never looked at them to compare them to a C4 hub because you can get the real thing for the same price or less. Try TLD, "The Last Detail", they have both Delco and and BCA--both were the same hub/bearing. Their prices are very good, and service in the States is excellent also. There are other places that have the same or slightly lower prices, but I don't know if they would accomodate shipping to The Land Down Under.
