Coated Headers & Underhood Temps
Do underhood temps increase or decrease when going to coated headers form stock exhaust manifolds?

I have heard the coating is extreamly helpful in the cooling process tho. I'm not sure.

So temp will go up, just not as much as uncoated.

Re: Coated Headers & Underhood Temps (90 Convertible)
Generally,
Highest Temps- Uncoated Headers-- greatest surface area to dissipate high heat.
Less- Coated Headers-- depending on the coating (ceramic, not just HiTemp Paint) and whether outside only or inside and outside.
The same (if inside/outside ceramic coated) or less (if single coated or just painted)-- Stock manifolds
Lowest Temps- Thermal wrapped and ceramic coated headers. But doesn't look nearly as sharp as the coated headers alone.

Re: Coated Headers & Underhood Temps (tkrussell)
yeah, coated headers will be cooler than non-coated :yesnod:
BUT i believe that coated headers are still going to be hotter than stock manifolds (because of the amount of surface area. Stock manifolds retain the heat a lot longer though since they are made of iron instead of thin pipes.

L98 Factory Exhaust Manifolds are basically shorty headers, that's why they have the heatshields there.
