but when I started to put the speedo gears on there was a problem, the one that went around the output shaft didn't fit, it was too big. The outer diameter is correct, but the inner diameter was not the same as the one that came off the tranny. I have a built '84 camaro tranny with my '93 tail housing. Does anyone know the correct speedo gears to get???? Please Help!!

I think I saw this same post yesterday, but I ran out of time to reply. For one reason or another, you have the wrong drive gear. It isn't for your trans. You are installing it into a 1984 700R4? Did you order the 8642620, 15 toothed grey, drive gear for the '84? Or did you order the 12507670, 15 toothed, grey drive gear for the '93? From what you've written you need the early drive gear for your early transmission output shaft. The driven gears are the same. No change there. For the 1993 tailshaft housing you will need the later, 10456089 sensor. I hope it's that simple. Good luck, and...
The problem is that they don't make a 15 tooth for the '84 shaft, only a 17 tooth. If they do make a 15 tooth could someone please give me a part number!!!
Or is there an electronic device that I can get, one that works with ABS??
Cyberdyne makes a unit that splices inbetween sensor and speedo. You then adjust signal. I never used it but friends have. It costs about $150.Hope this helps. :chevy

Is there something wrong with the one I supplied in the post that you are answering ???

Oh WOW, I totally missed that number I thought it was something else. Will that fit on the thinner shaft??
I notice they used the 8640517 red tear from 84 to 93 and I assumed the grey gears that go with it are of the same inner diameter. I guess I'll call the gm dealer and have them check it out for me. Thanks.

As my first post pointed out, the 1991-up, calls for a 12507670, for a 15 toothed drive gear. I don't know what it is that you have, that doesn't fit. If you'll notice, "the grey gear" for 91- up is different than 1990 and older. I am resonably confident that the "other" (other than the one you have) will be correct. Good luck, and...
