We are getting closer to figuring out the electrical gremlins since I had the motor in my '90 built 2 years ago...Gathering data with the Ease software showed that the computer was pulling our 5* of timing every time the throttle was spiked to about 70% +. This was happening even when engine was cold and running 10% rich! How does that happen? A bad KS? A short in the line? Wrong KS for the year of the car? Something loose that I can't hear over the exhaust noise?
Also, the scan tellls us that there are too many Canister purge cycles. Could this be related to yanking all the AIR components and not programming for that?
I would imagin this is from engine noise. I have the updated ESC in mine and they say that it will prevent false knock..I think they are like $50 from the dealler.
What did the knock sensor get torqued to, apparently if you overtorque them, they show bad readings. Also, I think you can just disconnect them to see if they are showing false knock. Though if it isn't false, errr
What's the deal with an updated ESC, what years have old vs. new?
Don't know what the boneheads that did the motor tq'd the new KS to. Gave them the TQ value (forgot it now) and told them to give it a couple of wraps of Teflon tape.
What kind of wiring intermittant could cause it?
Do the "old" '90 computers have a replaceable module to update to the '96 type? Is there a proper KS for the specific year's computer?
