Just had a chip done and was told that there is no way to program a rev limiter in this year system. Actually I was told its factory set to 10,000rpm (who said the GM guys don't have a sense of humor :D ) but is not used by the ecm.
Is everybody using a MSD 6al to accomplish this or is there another way ?

Get someone who knows what they're doing to burn you a chip. There is a fuel off RPM and fuel on RPM to be set. :yesnod:
I know the constants are there, but do they do anything?
You wanna watch a video of a burnout where I hit the same rev limiter you see there? :) Whaaaaa <bap> <bap> <bap> <bap> whaaaaa..... :)
No I believe you.
I did just get off the phone with them and while I did not speak with the programmer directly the message relayed to me was that he would never had said that because they can program the rpms limits, but only in 500rpm increments. I don't get that either since a field should be editable over its entire range, but I haven't seen the code and now I got that info second hand.
So, is it possible I misunderstood him when I asked about the rev limiter and he mentioned it was set at 10000 but I was better off with an MSD. Maybe :skep: I mean its not like I bought an MSD from them so it wasn't like they are making another sale. If they could have done it in the chip they should have made that suggestion especially since I asked. Should they have spent more time explaining the options- definitely ! - especially for the price they charge.
The chip's going back to get changed, I haven't used it yet because of the weather so I have no idea about the rest of it.
I'm not really confortable right now, I guess I'm getting the big shop treatment. :mad
As always guys, thanks for the help - except of course for the self limiting comments on the TPI :p:
Well thats an improvement at least, but like you said (and see above) it can be set to whatever you want. Pick an upper limit and a lower a couple hundred or so RPM lower and it'll hang around the median of those.
