Default Stainless Hoses ??

I'm going to be doing some "Appearance" mods and one of my ideas is to change out as many hoses as can with real stainless braided hoses. Which ones can I do easily? - I'd be getting the real hoses, not the "Slip-on" cheap ones, but I'm not very mechanical and I don't really want to begin disconnecting them one by one until I run into a real problem .. :D

Any suggestions?

I dont think there are any to get as factory replacement, besides the vacuum lines. "real" stainless braided hoses require special ends as you know, so you need to find hoses that terminate on both ends without special connectors. Fuel lines could be done, but they arent too visible. Power steering hoses arent very visible, and you may only be able to do the return side anyway. Heater hoses can be done, but the will use a hose clamp style end - not a fitting. Your trans lines should be hardlines so theyre out too. A/C lines are now available but they probably dont make the GM style "fitting" on the compressor yet. Pretty much leaves just the vacuum lines, which will use shrink tube on the ends.

Start with your radiator hoses, Jegs and Summit sell them between $90-$100 but I bought mine from this seller on eBay for half that! They were easy to put on and look great!!! http://cgi.msn.ebay.com/ebaymotors/w...tem=2461104332

I know in Charleston I have all my hoses fabed at charleston rubber and gasket for about 1/2 what you will pay in Jegs or simmilar and they are fabed to fit no cutting or adding conectors. Check your phone book under Hydraulics or rubber and gasket manufatures. This is also a great way to get gaskets made that GM might want an arm and a leg for.

Vettefast, how did that flexhose work. What about the twist and turns. My 84 has a couple of turns to deal with....?

Believe it or not the hose is very flexable. My buddie has a 86 with a supercharger he had to go around and it came out great.

Did you have to do any cutting to the stainless to get it to fit? My top hose is approx 18" and the bottom is about 21" .. The auction says "No Refunds" so I'd just like to make sure before I bid .... looks like a great price - thanks for pointing me in the right direction!

The stainless/AN fitting stuff is very costly for just wanting looks. Jegs does have adapters to convert your Rad conections to AN fitting but I don't think it wouuld be good for a daily driven car as it takes from a 1+" hose to a 12AN or 3/4
