Is there anything I should definately replace when removing and installing the transmission. I will be replacing mine soon, and am just wondering what if anything I will need besides the transmission itself.

I would inspect and if needed replace flexplate also look at starter bendix. New dana spicer u-joints are cheap insurance. Labor to replace these items cost pennies at this point. Just my $.02 :chevy I almost forgot, before installing trans be sure to flush trans lines and cooler. You dont want trash in your new tranny

Re: Replacing Trans.....What will I need?? (Wheelman)
The flecxplate is the large round ring that the torque converter bolts to. It is bolted to the rear of the engine crankshaft. When trans is out it will be right there. The outer edge has teeth that sometimes wear out . The starter bendix is the gear that comes out of starter and meshes with the flexplate. Each of these 2 items are 50ish dollars each and change in 10 minutes if trans is already out. I am not saying change them but at least inspect. If in doubt swap them out! This applies to auto trans. If its a stick car, remove the word flexplate and install the word flywheel :reddevil
