Default Running Rough

last night i start my car then it dies. i start it again the service engine light comes on. also the fuel avg read 99mpg and the instant fuel rate read 0 while driving. then there was a shudder through the drive train and the engine light turned off and the fuel rate went back to normal. however the car is idling too low in gear, around 400 to 500, causing things to go dim. alt output while driving is good(btwn 13.8 and 14.2 volts). this happens nearly every time i start the car (around 10 times). Any thoughts what might cause this?:banghead:

Since the Check Engine Light came on, check it for any stored trouble codes first and then post what they are. Without knowing that, everything else will be a guess, but if I had to, I'd suspect the MAF. Disconnect it and see if it runs any better.

You need to pull some codes.
