Default Shifter Stuck in Park!

For some reason my shifter is stuck in park. I have been making mods to the car for the last 4-5 months and the shifter hasn't moved. It appears to be the park lockout in the shifter mechanism. The button seems to be ok, but the cord that lock plate is hooked up to seems to be stuck. Any thoughts? WHere does this cord go to? I can hear it trying to move behind the instrument cluster. Thanks for the help.

I trust you turned the ignition to run? Eons ago - like the 70's - the shifter cable would freeze up and the folklore was to run a ground cable to the tranny pan (after replacing the cable of course). To see if yours works, disconnect it at the pan and try to operate it manually.

Opps, just remembered, some of the electrics need an input from the brake switch too, so make sure the battery is connected and your foot is on the brake.

DOH!! It's been so long since I've driven the car and I was running on a very messed up sleep schedule. It's the dumb little things. My intelegence level has officially dropped. Thanks.
