Its even simpler to remove. Just grap with finger tips and pull it off. There is one wire connected to button. Disconnect it from the button, make sure the other end is properly plugged into the column. The sockets break often. Its a springloaded twist in connector. If that is connected properly, ground other end (the end from the button) against the steering wheel retainig nut. If the horn blows it will confirm your suspicion.

Thanks for the info. The problem is with the horn button. Now, another question, is the horn button a self-contained unit? or can it be accessed and repaired by taking the rubber housing off?

I got the button apart only to discover that the problem was in the spring contacts in the steering wheel. Bent them back in place and horn works fine now - Thanks!
