I have an 89 Automatic Coupe and I'm considering two simple "plug-in" performance mods.
First, Mid-America offers a MAT Sensor relocation kit. The kit relocates the MAT sensor to the air filter base. It boasts improved performance as it moves the sensor to an area where it can make cooler ambient temperature ratings. I realize that this is a very minor mod that should have no "seat of the pants" effect, but is this a waste of $45.00 and 30 minutes of my time?
The second mod is a Shift control module for automatic transmissions. This is Mid-America part #603-707. The description indicates that this switch helps prevent the continual shifting between D and OD at City driving speeds. The switch plugs directly into the harness and seems to be an easy install. For $30, it seems like a worthwhile mod.
Does anyone have an idea as to EXACTLY what this switch does?? Does this sound like a good idea?
If the lock up switch is the one that I bought years ago it only allows lock up in 4th gear. It did nothing for performance butb was worth every penny for driveability reasons. At that time I had 3:07 gears and it took away that rumble in the low rpms. It has been installed for8 years with no problems. :D :D
