Default More 396 destruction

Well, last month it was the Dana 36 w/3.54s ripped some teeth off the ring gear. This month it's the tranny. I guess it will be spindles or half shafts next. :steering:

Ram rod, my sympathys. Please post progress on updated parts. I am about to build my trans and want to upgrade. Trans shops are tight lipped. Help make your loss our gain. Good luck

Ransome, that 396 is just too powerful for your Vette. I recommend you send it to me, to try in my car. :D

Ramrod92 - Thanks for the heads up. Because I'll be installing a 420 and transmission. I guess I should be looking for a Dana 44

So that must be the 7 Vane pump? I've heard stories, never seen the results....

That was after the 396. I did put about 10,000 on it with the stock motor. My best run was 13.7 at 101. :steering:

that's odd with the dana 36 breaking so easily, i have run a 12.3 on the 36 with the auto. now i have a 6-speed in the car which i powershift and launch quite often, going on 3,000 miles on the 6 speed so far.

The 2.59 gears are thicker. As the ratio gets higher there are more teeth and they get thinner. The set I blew out were 3.54s. My 44 now has some big 3.73s in it. :steering:
