Cam Selection
I'm putting together a budget 350TPI combination for my 1990 convertible. The car has a ZF6 and a 3.45 rear end. I will use an LT1 intake manifold, home ported L98 heads (near 200CFM @ .400, 230CFM@ .500 and .600) and all of the breathing/ignition mods needed to support the cam and heads. The hotcam is cheapest, but the 219/219 looks like it would best remedy my anemic low-lift flow numbers. I'm not sure if I would benefit more from a split duration or single duration cam (L98 heads have a decent I/E ratio with similar porting on both intake and exhaust?) or if either cam would make a substantial amount more power than the other. Also there are the assorted comp grinds like the XE, Magnum and even the "305" LT1 grind which looks like a hotcam with more of the lift that I need. Which, if any would be the best for the combination without breaking the bank? Any info or tips are appreciated!!! Thanks!
