Speedo Gears
Folks,
Well the guy that installed my tranny did not properly install the speedo gears and the speedometer went out. Pulled the VSS and saw the gears were chewed up. :cuss :banghead: :reddevil :skep: :rant:
So I see Ikler's sells new gears for $60. I seem to recall that the old gear that went into the speed sensor sort of was held in to the sensor, and I had to pull it out. The one I gear I have does not seem to lock into the sensor anymore. Anyone remember if the gear kind of locks into the sensor so I know if I should get a new sensor for $100 too?
Also, there are two holes to lock the gear onto the tranny shaft. One towards the front and one towards the rear. I assume that they installed the gear over the wrong hole. Which hole it the right hold for a 90?
Any additional sources of these gears that might be cheaper? (3.73 Rear).
I figure I would do it myself since I want it done right. But I am so :cuss

The gears that you need are easily available from gm. Last time I bought them I paid $20 or less for both. You need the Gray drive gear part #8642620 And lt blue 45 tooth driven gear # 25513052 This is a 3.73 with a 26 inch tall tire . Hope this helps.

Figures, I order the gears for $60 from Ikler and see them on GM Parts direct for about $6 /peice.
