Hey all, I recently replaced the fuel pump in my 85 with a replacement from NAPA..
Works fine but I noticed that it started creating a hellacious vibration that is
making the gas cap buzz. It is very loud at idle.. I havent pulled it yet but I wonder
if this could be an issue with the hanger? Anyone else run into this? Check this
out, I asked NAPA about replacement, and was told that I would have to pull my
fuel filter also and send it in for "analysis" to see if they would cover it...
I kinda have a hard time with that request, seems like too much liability is put
on the customer if they sell you a bad part...
Is this SOP with fuel pump returns? Thanks....
This is a problem with most parts stores. It's a good idea to get a warranty for replacement on the spot. I usually stay with GM for parts like this. I'm surprised that NAPA wasn't willing to swap it out right then. Ask for the supervisor. Sure you have to take it out again, but they should make it right.
NAPA isn't what it used to be.. Too busy trying to compete with the cheapie stores... They should still exchange the part without a hassle... I got my 86 fuel pump last week at a(gulp) Advance auto for 58 bucks... So far so good
