Speaker wire
I tore out the carpet on my 8 coupe today getting ready to replace it. When I took off the passenger side speaker cover, found a purple wire from the connector running under the carpet. When the carpet was tore out, found the end of the wire. It had a round connector on it like a ground, but was not hooked up anywhere. Can't find radio and speaker wiring diagram, where should this wire go? Any help would be greatly appreciated. By the way, it is a Bose speaker.

I have a wiring diagram for a 89 model. I could not find a purple wire on the 89 wiring diagram for the radio??? It may not be the same for you 86! Each speaker (for the Bose system) has four wires. Two of these are power wires to the internal speaker amps. One of these wires is a 12v supply wire (pink& black for door units; pink for rear units) and the other is just a ground (color black for all four units). The other two leads are signal wires to the amps. Each unit has different wire colors. Let me know if you want the diagram. SAM
