Default Wich TPI "Base" to buy?

The are alot of different tpi base's available. What one is the best for the buck? I was thinking about purchasing the tpis "big mouth" for $375(i think) and porting it alittle along with the stock or slp runners, and porting the plenem. Im in the prosess of buying edelbrock rpm heads/cam and i would need a good intake setup to be able to flow the required amount of air.Don't want to spend big money. :p:

I stole a brand new Edelbrock from Ebay. I would probably buy Accel, Ive heard it fits the best. I believe the TPIS base is produced by Edelbrock and lightly ported by TPIS. There are some fitment issues with the Edelbrock, but according to Jeb here on the forum it has a little more meat for porting. I plan on having my Extrude Honed to the max, thats why I went with it.

I think the tpis's one is cheaper than the edelbrocks and if not where to buy? Didn't consider the accell one b/c price, but then again I may be looking in the wrong places.

Were is the cheapest place to buy?

If youre not in a hurry, check Ebay. These intakes can be had for around 300-320 used. Cruzin Performance sells the Accel brand new on Ebay for 397.

Check this auction  http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...category=36474

TPIS one is made by Edelbrock, the Edelbrock one is cheaper through Summit or Jegs than the TPIS one.

Whatever you go with, I'd try to find a used one, they don't wear out.

I would also check thridgen.org 's classified section. People sell that stuff all the time over there. Check back often as you cant search too old, and you cant "post" a reply, so the new ads push the old out.

that was a 'buy it now' at $450.00 ............why is the auction still open with a bid of $450.00 ?.............if it goes higher he is going to love ebay and you had better email him or ebay about it.............by the way only one bid.

Dude performance is exponential

What one is the best for the buck? Edelbrock $200ish

Most Flow TPiS at $475ish

Same thing with runners edelbrock,SLP, TPiS (siamese will net a few more RPM for your peak)

If you're smart you'll just save your dough till you can get a superram (smoothed/ported) or a miniram.

Don't want to spend big money. :p:
 You better keep on checking the classifieds and Ebay. TPI intake systems are ridiculously expensive. I have just about a grand tied up in mine.
I was too impatient to wait for a deal to come along so I bought new.

:banghead:

Actually the Edelbrock and TPIS are the exact same manifold. Edelbrock produces them, Ive read TPIS does a bit of very light port work, can't back that up though.

As far as runners, out of the box, the AZspeed/TPIS runners flow the best at 260cfm. Accel has the greatest potential though with an Extrude Hone job, they flow 275cfm.

Ive been thinking of selling my AZspeed runners since I found that out.

I'm going with a Holley Stealth Ram so I can run with the "Big Dogs" up top.

I can't speak for the others, but I've been pretty happy with the Accel base. It netted me some decent track gains and fit absolutley perfect with no fabrication at all.
