Default Track Times

The first time out with the '95 was a little disappointing. I ran a best of 9.15@79.8mph w/ a 2.16 60'. My dad raced the '87, 8.86@79.4 w/1.98 60'. I realize the '87 ran a better time due to traction, but shouldn't I be at least running about 82mph or faster? Check out my signature, I've got a small list of mods to both cars. I think my '95 should have alot more power what does everyone else think?

Sorry I'm away from home and can't convert to 1/4mi times.

Maybe someone will come in with some data.

ET for the 87 is about right. I have one. It will be around 13.9 1/4 mile. I Dont have much experience with LT1 cars but I would expect a bit better with that cam. Tire spin can really kill your ET though. Keep racing, practice will help :jester

I think there are some "standard" factors for converting 1/8th time to 1/4 times. Here are some actual numbers that are in your ballpark.

60'...................1.916
1/8th ET.........8.852
1/8th MPH...78.50
1/4 ET..........13.861
1/4 MPH.......98.23

I hope this helps.

RACE ON!!!

[EDIT] Trying to get numbers to line up.

It looks like I'm right on with the '87. Anyone have times or opinions on the '95? The only things I can think of that may have influenced the low mph:

1) Car was real hot 220-230 on every run. Everything about my cooling system is factory except for T/B Bypass.

2) I've heard the LT-1 Knock Sensor is real sensitive. Could the fact that I have a Hot Cam with roller rockers affect this sensor?

My dad raced the '87, 8.86@79.4 w/1.98 60'.
That's nice! On my 87 Z52 With Hooker Super Comp's, Straight Mandrel Bent 2½" Piping, 2600rpm Stall Converter and drag radials ran these numbers:
60' = 1.86
330' = 5.566
1/8th Mile = 8.672 @ 78.8mph
¼ Mile = 13.59 @ 100.9mph
So, I'd say your car is running QUITE well for having LESS mods than mine! :cheers:

Dont be too hard on yourself till you do the 1/4 mile.The time in my signature,I think I ran 86 mph in the 1/8,and usually 84-85.But it pulls like a banshee on the big end.I didnt gain that much mph wise in the 1/8 from stock,but it sure made up the difference on the last half of the 1/4.They like rpm :D

First, what were your 60' times. The 1.8 ET does seems a slow for your car - a stock LT-1 even. I would think 8.80s would be very real if not quicker. My LT-4 has 1/8 ETs between 8.34 and 8.55 depending on 60'.

Yes, at 220 degrees you are negatively impacting HP. You will find ET with a 160 or 180 Thermostat and programming your fans to come on much sooner.

And Yes to the knock sensor. I have heard many guys buy an LT-4 knock sensor when they go the hot cam route. I just am not sure about the HP impact.

Good luck!
