Electronic A/C (C68) Display goes out, but comes back on when I push on it...
Ok, I did the tech tip of cleaning the circuit board, and I even took the dern thing apart...but when I put it back together, it just kept doing the same thing...sometimes the display will go out (but the heater/ac is still on), and when I press down hard on the toggle buttons (Blower Speed Up/Down) the display will light up again. So, what might be the possible cause? When I looked at the circuit board and everything, it all looked to be in great shape. Any ideas? :lurk:

MIne does the same thing and I was going to suggest the tech tips but you beat me too it. It would be my guess that it is a hairline solder crack. :lurk:

Get a remanufactured one. I think they are only like $100. Good luck!

Mine does the same thing and sometimes the numbers really scrambel-just the other day someone posted this exact thing, cleaning contacts worked for him. I haven't tried that yet, but I think I'll check grounds first.Especially the two behind the cylinder heads.Hey, if you find a cure, please post it. :seeya

I had similar problems. What I did was retinned the connection strip on the circuit board, the connection strip has approx. 16 connetion points to the connector, get your soldering iron and some solder and thinnly retin these traces, the original ones ware out due to the vibration. It solved my problem and everything is okay.

:iagree: Re tin the 16 fingers on the board that the plug connects to- it cured the intermittent lights - until I fitted a CD player, I must have kncoked the plug slightly and now the lights don't come on for 20 minutes or so - everything works but you can't see the display. Maybe the prongs in the plug need bending to increase the tension ?

Also reflow all the solderjoints.
Sounds like there may be a cracked joint in the display section since the controls still work

Re: Electronic A/C (corvette-pilot)
I just found a tech tip that suggests stretching the two springs behind the board - that makes sense, they're probably the contacts for the display
