When setting the TPS, do I unplug the IAC?
I've done this all before, but don't recall.
The IAC valve must be closed when doing this, correct? and in order to do that I need to paperclip the ALDL and have the IAC unplugged and set at base idle, right?

To adjust the TPS (throttle position sensor), you do not need to disconnect the IAC (idle air control) valve. Mid Americaa Direct sells a wiring device that makes this real easy ($12). Set the voltage by turning on the ignition (but do not start the engine) loosing the two screws on the TPS, and move the sensor to obtain the desired voltage. My 89 is set ay .60 volts and I get 4.2 volts at WOT. Hope this is helpful.
