I'm thinking about buying the lowering bolts from MidAmerica to lower my C4 and want to make sure the bolts are top quality. Does anyone have any experience with the bolts they sell? I see where they have nyloc nuts, but do they also have a hole drilled for cotter pins? Is the quality the same as OEM? I take the car to track days and I don't need to be worrying about them when I'm going into a turn hot.
You will have to drill for your own cotter pin holes. I do not think the issue is the quality of the bolts. I think some people just lower their cars as they want. If you are going to lower your car I hope you know why you are doing what.
Robin,
Did you leave your GS at it stock height when you raced it or did you lower it? I've heard lowering it helps a little in the handling because the CG is lowered a little and that's why I'm thinking of doing it.
Heck,,, get aircraft grade bolts and nuts,,, and safety wire them... and you'll never have to worry... or just 11" grade 8 bolts and nuts and double nut them with lock washer...
I just did my rear drop from MAD. I had to wait, while they sent me a new bolt that wasn't stripped out, but other than that, the bolts are definitely high grade. They were also covered with rust when I got them, from MAD. I think if I were to do it again, I'd consider ZIP.
