I'd like to change my 92 brakes into something that can be really called "brakes"...I am tired off this impression of having a useless left pedal... :(
Can somebody give me some advice of what kind of upgrade I should install on my car and where to get it...I just want more efficient brakes so that I can have some fun with less risk of ending in a tree with hot brakes but I am not looking for a racing stuff as I don't drive with full throttle often (not for the time :D )
Thanks
There are a couple of options depending on the brake system you have.
1. Install DRM Brake Bias Spring in Master Cylinder. (Cheapest upgrade)
2. Install S/S Brake hoses. (Holds more pressure)
3. Flush brake system and replace fluid with Ford HP brake fluid (higher boiling temps)
4. Upgrade front brakes from standard 12" to J55 C4 13" Big brakes. (Kits cost around $800-900)
5. Upgrade front brakes from standard 12" to C5 13" Brakes. (Put your own kit together for $300-$800 depending on options. Contact forum member, edalinas for caliper adaptors, his are great and inexpensive. See http://www.superchevyperformance.com under their brake upgrade section for a list of parts needed. You can find used calipers in the C5 Parts section of the forum or buy new ones. Z06 and reg. C5 calipers are the same, only difference is the color.)
6. Go to Wilwood or higher performance brake system. Be prepared to pay a lot more.

Re: Brake upgrade (Whitvette)
 The stock C5 front brakes and the DRM bias spring are an awesome and relatively inexpensive combination.
I have read the test reports, Vette Fever or Vette, can't remember which one, on the Willwood upgrade and for several thousand bucks more, the results amounted to a few feet of stopping distance!
Go for the C5 and the DRM spring and talk to Ed about adapters. I bought my C5 front brakes cheap on C5 parts for sale from some guy who had to move up to Willwood

Jack, the difference between the C5 calipers and the baer/Brembo/Willwood kit's is not the extra 2 feet or whatever you justify your money on, it's the ability to reduce fade after repeated high speed stops from road racing or certain autocross events.
You might want to ponder upon what the person doing the upgrade wants to do, rather than automatically bad mouthing what could be a proper upgrade.

I assembled them on my '92 stock sawblades, without a wheel adapter the C5 caliper hits the rim where the 8 ribs curve into the outer portion of the wheel. But with the use of a 1/2 wheel spacer (from Mid America/Ecklers etc), they fit just fine.
Cool, so I think I'll put C5 calipers on my 92...
What about the pads?
And can somebody list me all the parts I need for the compete upgrade so I know what to order (and where)...
Thank you very much guys

http://www.superchevyperformance.com: This is Superior Chevrolet's website. They put together a full list of the parts that are needed. Their prices for the parts are excellent as well! If you want to go used, check the C5 Parts section. A lot of guys have gotten calipers for the front really cheap from other guys on the forum. Get with edsalinas for the adaptors. I went with the ceramic GM pads and the high performance GM rotors for my setup.
