Cheapest way to scan using windows?
Uh, Bluevette85, just an FYI. There was a fellow who got bounced off the Forum not too long ago for advocating sortware piracy. The forum sponsors generally take a dim view of people stealing things and then bragging about it. You might want to edit the post above. If you do, I'll delete this one before any of the mods notice. Up to you.
I'm not advocating anyone pirate software. Just pointing out that there is a way to extend the trial period of software that can be downloaded for free so you can decide if you want to license it.
but do anyone of them work in Windows XP?

This is what I'm using and soon they will have an adapter to log a wideband (or any 3, 0-5 volt inputs sensors)
In regards to the diacom cable. I'm not positive on this, but I believe it is just a MAX-232 based cable, so if you can get the software without the cable, you'd just need a MAX-232 cable to go with it, or you could purchase the package.
If you were actually talking about datamaster, check out Steve Ruse's website http://www.wotelectronics.com/cables.html He sells the MAX-232 cables for a reasonable price, and he's great to deal with. I had bought one of his cables from another forum member and was having problems getting it to connect to my ECM. Even though I didn't purchase from him directly, he still took the time out to email me and discuss the problems I was having. Tell him I sent you to the site.
I'll tell you one thing. Running the diagnostics on these cars is quite involved. There is a very steep learning curve associated with it, but it's kinda fun too. Figuring out all the information and what it means will take some devotion.
I will check with some of these web sites today.
