I have seen recent threads about a Flowmaster Catback system and would like some clarification.
Here is my application. I would like to install a Flowmaster II catback system on my C4. The pre-cats will stay along with adding the FM resonator. The hundred dollar question is this.....Does anyone have this very same application and how loud is the interior noise. Can't you tell this is my first go at replacing the OEM exhaust system?!?!?! Thanks to all!!!!!!!
I installed a set of Flowmaster Mufflers last year, and it sounds really nice at idle, but my wife hates it a cruise. It also has a lot of resonance inside at about 1000 to 1200 rpm. I have an automatic trans (2:59 ) rear end, very tall gears when driving around town I have to keep the revs up to keep it from causing resonance. Over 45 to 50 mph the resonace goes away. I am not happy with the Flowmasters, and should have gone with the Corsa's. Another Forum member told me not to go with Flowmasters but I did and now I willhave to re-install my old mufflers .
Thanks for the input Bob. Now you have me worried!!!!!!!!! Are these just the Flowmaster mufflers or the entire cat-back system???????? With Resonator?
Thanks for the advice. Was this just the Flowmaster mufflers or the entire cat-back system? I plan on keeping the front cats and using flow's resonator.
I have seen the cat-back for $540 in Summit. But they are 2.5" and factory is 2.75". They claim 38hp for LT1 I doubt it and 70 for the ZR1??? But this would keep the stock intact if I ever wanted to go back to a quieter exhaust. How restrictive is the factory set-up?
I would recommend the Force 2 system. On my 90 I put on the the force 2 system for the LT1/4 and it is quieter at cruise than the stock system. Acceleration sounds good.
I think the bad Flowmaster rap is caused by the 40 series mufflers, they are way too loud for me.

I'm running 40's, as said above. I'd recommend for anyone here to pass on them, unless resonance doesn't bother them. My car sounds like I'm driving a UPS truck from the inside. As for loud?? On the outside, they aren't ANYTHING like I expected, in fact, they get QUIETER as I climb in RPMs
Thanks for the info Carson. I've looked at just adding the Magnaflo mufflers, but realize the performance gain just isn't there with those VS Flowmaster Force II cat-back system.
Did you buy tips for yours? I'm having a hard time sourcing someone who sells tips for this specific system. Take care.
Flowmaster Force II cat-back and Flowmaster mufflers are two completely different animals.
The Force II system is tuned for use with the LT1/4 Corvettes and has minimal resonance. It was tuned to keep the resonance down on C4s.
The regular two or even three-chamber Flowmaster mufflers will make your ears bleed inside a C4. Eventually either you get used to it, or you switch to something else.
I think you'll be happy with the Force II system.
