Default Hypertech Power Programmer III

I know I've seen it been said on the forum that custom programming is better. However since I'm losing power due to cooling issues and need to turn my fan on earlier, I am considering this Hypertech for perhaps less money? Can anyone tell me how exactly this Programmer works? From what I understand you can reprogram again and again if say you were to change gear ratio(speedometer) or make other changes to fuel and timing and ? How much adjustability is there with fuel/timing and anything else? Any help/opinions are appreciated. Custom tuning just sounds very expensive.

I bought one used so I could get the fans to come on early. There appears to be no way to adjust A/F or timing other than the Hypertech "canned" programming. It's either on or off. You do have flexibility with A4 shift points, speedo stuff (different gears, tire diameters) and a couple fan temp settings. If you want, I'd be happy to scan the manual and email it to you so you can see for yourself...

Yep, I have one you download thier tuning or not. It does work well with the fans and shift frimness is A LOT better. Cost is $300 so not cheap. If you find a used one make sure that the Hypertech program is back in (car un-programed) other wise you have to send to Hypertech to fix. I would not buy it again knowing that you could send your puter to http://www.pcmforless.com and they will re-program for about $175 and make any changes free for 60 days.

I'm still waiting for tuning from them after over a week. I'm hoping they are just busy and I didn't just donate $50.

Tobijohn - If it's not too much trouble, I would very much appreciate you scanning relevant parts of your Hypertech manual. It would really help me make a better decision. Thanks.

OK, I was able to get it scanned, saved in PDF format and sent to the email address in your sig. However, the file is 1.3 megs and I don't know if AOL will let an attachment that large through. Let me know if you were able to get it, thanks....

Okay, I called Bryan at PCMFORLESS and his PC had gotten one of the email worms that has been going around recently, which hosed his emails he tried to send and recieve. He does have my tuning finished, but the email didn't go through right last week when he tried to send it. So this explains the delay.
