One guy I know from HS has a turbo one. He loves the car, but last time I talked to him he told me all the strange problems he has with it, besides it using a noticable amount of oil. But hey, what you like is what you like.
they are supposed to use oil. they burn about a quart every thousand miles because the oil is injected into the combustion chamber to lubricate the rotar and housing. the main reaon why the cars were deamed un-reliable is because people dont know how to take care of them. properly taken care the rotary can be just as reliable as any other motor out there

I didn't know that, thanks. I was curious as to why he said it used so much oil. Makes perfect sense though.

Pretty much they are a 2 stroke engine. Sorta, maybe. We used to call them voodoo triangle motors.

I've had two second gens and like everybody says they are low torque motors. They are only 1.3L. If you ever hear one unmuffled, it'll scare you to death. THey have the typical two stroke ring ding, except at about 1,000 db's. But they were cheap and fun to drive. The last one is now being parted out by the current owner with over 200K miles.
