How hard is it to remove the dash pad? I bought a replacement passenger side bumper and the screws come down from the top.
Is it really only the 6 screws under the pad lip and the 2 in the defroster duct and then just yank?
Thx, Andy :auto:
I've had the pad off my '86 several times and I'm pretty sure your '84 is the same setup. Two screws in the defroster duct and 6 seems about right underneath, but I don't remember for sure. You may have to remove a few pieces of dash trim to get at some of them though.
There may be one on each end of the pad. You may have to remove the passenger fuse panel bezel and the driver's side dash side bezel to get to them. It's been awhile for me.
Andy, you have the rite idea. There are a few clips where the pad hits the windshield area. a gentle tug will pull it free. This is the tricky part when it goes back. No big deal though.
Just pulled mine about two weeks ago and it realy is that easy. Just remove the 6 screws and the vnets and work it stright back to release the rear clips and it is out.
Ive had my whole dash off a few times (mostly on the drivers side), its really not a big deal. Just take it SLOW and work carefully. Some of the things take a lil bit of patience to remove, but taking the time sure beats damaging soemthing. Gooooooood Luck!
Andy, after you remove the screws you need to pull the dash straight out.
I also removed my headlamp **** to get at one of the screws. The dash clips back into place. I replaced mine over the summer and the hardest screw to remove was on the right side of the dash, Its almost hidden.
Job is finally complete...
I had a heck of a time finding the interior light delay module.
Good thing I had that whole side of the dash apart. I finally found the five wires and followed them. The module was BLACK on my car (Not White), taped to the rear of the harness shoved into the dash plastic in the blind space where the rug covers the bottom of the rt side lower dash and where the bottom of the bumper sits.
Luckily it just needed to be reseated, we have interior lights.... YAHOOOOOO
