As posted earlier, I got my first vette (88 coupe) this week. From perusing the forums I see multiple mentions of guys pulling diagnostic codes from their vettes but I can not find details about what tool is used to do this. I did not know there was such a tool available to the home mechanic. Any details? Again, excuse my ignorance, I learn fast.
Addition: I just found out what they are, but I am looking for one for my 88 that will READ AND CLEAR codes as opposed to just read. Is there such a beast? The CP9001 is the only one I found so far.
Just for "what is worth", Auto Zone will give you a FREE little metal key that substitutes for the paper clip. I have tried both and the AZ freebie is worth the trip to the parts store!
NOTE: All computer codes (on a 88 model) can easily be cleared by disconnecting the battery for 30 seconds. This cleans them out!!
