Does your SECURITY light flash at the same time as your SYS light? I'm still trying to trace down the stupid gremlins in the car and I'm about ready to burn the thing down to the ground. I have a starting problem where the motor turns over at full speed but does not fire. This happens randomly and thinking it was VATS, I would wait 3 minutes. This usually worked, but I know now that the VATS system disables the starter, but mine turns over, just won't start. Now the car won't start at all, argg.
I get it every now and then when I am driving or turn the key to on. The SECURITY and SYS lights will flash, and then the MPG takes a few seconds to reset itself. I know the SYS means a code is being set, but I am just wondering if the SECUIRTY light usually flashes too.
What the frick. Code 41 seems to be for L98 motors and 72 is the VATS junk I think, and 74 is not listed in any reading I've found. And how is getting codes set for C41 when the car is not even started, arggg.
AND, I'm not getting C12, is that a problem anybody's had before?
First, the SYS flashes because the CCM detects a problem not the ECM(powertrain). No, SECURITY flash is not always flashing with the SYS. However, it is likely that the SYS flash is caused by a security system problem. Check all your fuses :steering:
This sounded very familiar to me. I had the same thing happen after I reprogrammed my PCM. Did you do this lately? My problem was FEDS (Fuel Enable Data Stream) was failing, the the symptoms are identical to yours. On start up the CCM and PCM communicate with some sort of encrypted messages. The CCM basically tells the PCM it can start the car (VATS Ok, etc.) If this fails your SECURITY light will flash and the car will not start...it will crank but no fuel to start. This FEDS communications continues even after the car has started. If it fails the engine will stop and flash the SECURITY light. If it's intermittent the engine will stumble but keep running. I've been there...
Your CCM is reporting C/H41 - PCM Loss of Communications. How can FEDS succeed if they can't talk to each other?
Your PCM is reporting H72 - Loss of vehicle speed sensor. The PCM gets it speed data from the CCM. No communications = no speed data.
My guess is your CCM is fine, PCM *might* not be. Check the communications wires for bad connections.
I'm not sure what H74 is on the TCS/ABS, it's not listed in my '95 manual. My guess is it's communications related as well.
I have a ECM, and yes, I put a chip from PCMforless in it, but it was happening even before then. The more I look at archived posts, the more it looks live an ECM, I've seen some posts that were almost perfectly identical to mine.
I know it's the CCM throwing the codes, but I think the ECM is what is causing the CCM to do that. I'm going to check all the connections, but for reference, where is the best place to get a new ECM. ZIP products sells one on the Forum Mall for $85, is that a good deal or should I stay away from remanufactured ECM's.
