Ugly. First off I don't think they make one for LT4, and second off even if they did it would be of little benefit on an LT4. The engine power tuning feature of the HPP is dodgy at best. Guys that have cars with automatic transmissions can benefit from the HPP's shift firmness increase option, though.

I have one and I only use it for turning the fans on earlier... Other than that I wouldn't have one... I bought it a long time ago for my Trans Am, and it works with the LT1 and LT4... If it wasn't for the fan function, I'd get rid of it...
They do make a specific one for the LT4 that's different from the 1996 LT1 version...however I personally think that it is a waste of money. It really doesn't do anything for power, it can turn on the fans earlier and re-program for different rear-end gears, but I don't think either of those options is worth the $300-350 they charge for it.
On a side note, I see that you put larger MAF screens on...you might want to hook your car up to a scanner (such as AutoXRay) to see what your fuel trims are. Larger MAF screens have a tendency of throwing that off, you can get a MAF translator as a temporary fix, but the best thing to do would be to dynotune it.
I had one for the GS to lower the fan settings, adjust for the 4:10s and raise the rev limiter. I used the program and went slower at the track than with the stock program.
So why does it say? ; "Precise tuning optimizes engine speed from off-idle to redline for maximum power and performance."
Because they want yer money :yesnod:
As for the MAFS, it's the MID AMERICA DESIGN housing ends and directional air foil. They "CLAIM" 1000 CFM. It's not installed yet.
Should I send that back and go for the custom PCM???
I would. Don't need it on a stock engine, plus as mentioned, your PCM contains MAF tables that are calibrated to the *stock* MAF unit. Modifiying the stock unit or replacing it with a modified unit serves to throw the MAF and the PCM out of sync. Now on a modified engine that needs more air flow than a stock MAF can provide (heads, cam, headers, exhaust, 52mm throttle body and cold air intake) then an after market MAF in combo with customized MAF calibration tables in the PCM makes sense.
If you want a copy of the Hypertech PPIII manual to see exactly what you can and can not do, let me know and I'll email it to you. I previously had scanned mine and converted it to a PDF file for another CF member...
So, What about the "Predator"? "Engineered to raise hell" :reddevil
Good, Bad or Ugly???
I wasn't aware that they made a Predator for the LT engines, just LS1's and LS6's? I've heard some good results fromt he LS owners on it, again, nothing amazing...but not bad. You best bet would still be to find a shop with a dyno, and that has LT Edit...the pre-packaged programming tools just aren't that good...you need adjustability.
I've never seen one, chrome - looks good!
You might want to adjust your monitor, it's black not chrome.
Back to the programer. The maual should probably apply to your '95. You would have to order the LT1 model. I havn't decided if I'm going this route yet. But I'm wondering if the level of modification has a lot to do with the results.
Is it that, being basically stock I can see improvements. However, if I were to go with more exhaust and intake mods, would the pre-programed tune not be as effective?
John , it's just the way the light's hitting it.Looked chrome. Sorry. I'll adjust my monitor.
Anyways, I think the general opinion around here is that unless you need it for speedo calibration from a gear swap, or want to reprogram your fans, then don't expect any "performance" gains from it. That's what changed my mind. It really has little, or no benefit to my 6 spd other then those two things. :nonod:
Given that I want to tuck 285's under the front end to pair up with the 335's on the rear. That be where my money should go. ;)
Good idea! I have a few things coming this week. A Camber Brace, my Corsa exhaust, and new shocks - So I'll be happy, come Saturday!!! Those 335's don't stick out as far as I thought they would - nice fat meats, too!!
