Default Standard vs Roller block pics

Hope this helps some of you wondering if you can put a factory roller cam into a 1986 block.

You can still use a roller cam in a non roller block. You just have to use retrofit lifters.

That's what I did.

Thanks for the pics. :cheers: Those retrofit lifters are $$$$. So, to machine the block, it looks like it involves welding bosses on there, not just drilling and tapping.

Yes, The lifter bosses top surface and the casting area next to them is also different.

:thumbs: Thanks for the pics....I've heard some late '86 blocks had the bosses, but weren't tapped. So I guess you'd open it up and see. Looks like you'd still have to grind "shoulders" behind the lifters either way.
