I am purchasing new tires for my 1996 LT1. They are the new Cooper Zeon 2XS. I am getting all 4 for $635 mounted and balanced. The front tires of course are 255/45-17 and the rears are supposed to be 285/40-17. The only problem is that Cooper only makes a 275/40-17. Will this be a problem? The tire dealer says the only difference is the width of the tire is about 1/4 of an inch less. Thanks for your help.
No problem. My '96 Z51 has the 275s on all four from the factory. I'd just put those on all four, (maybe not if you have 8.5" wide front rims) you'll be able to rotate and maybe handle a little better.
Thanks for the info! Yeah, I have the 8.5's on the front so I wouldn't be able to rotate anyway. One more question though. Should I take the sensors off of the rims since I will not have the run flat tires? Thanks again!
I recently put he exact Cooper tires on my 87, with 94 wheels..
I was able to get mine wholesale, and I am very satisfied with them, Only put 1,000 miles on them so far..
