Default Wiring scares me. Please help

Ok, I am going to wire up my heated o2 and a new tach. If someone could tell me exactly which wire (color and location) to connect the following I would be MOST appreciative. I don't want to tear the dash apart if I don't have too.

o2
I've done the sensor wire
Ground goes to chassis
Where in the engine bay can I tee into a wire?

Tach
Ground goes to chassis
Power?
Light dimmer?

I wanted to go straight to the fuse box but I can't get to the back of it and when I look up under the dash, my big melon gets stuck!

I also want to do this mod this summer after I do my exhaust. A picture as to were to hook up the power wire would be great.

I know that all you really have to do is replace your stock 02 sensor, and re-hook up the original wires, then take the extra positive wire and attach it with an ignition power source.
Most people hook them up to something that isn't really important, like the windshield wiper wire, radio, something like that.

What I'm afraid of is how do you know if the fuse won't burn out because of the extra voltage needed by the O2 sensor.

I think I will try the windshield wiper hot wire. I guess I can put an inline fuse in there which could be easily checked??? Oh man, I hate electrical stuff! :cry

As far as the heated O2 sensor, just pull power from anything switched by the ignition or by the engine running: Oil pressure switch, MAF relay, fuel pump relay, etc.

For the tach, you could pull power from the fusebox, radio, etc. But I'm afraid you'll have to open up the dash to get the light dimmer. FWIW you can pull the dash pad in 5 min and get to the back of the dimmer switch from the top.

Go down to your charcoal canister, the valve has a pink/black wire going to it. This wire gets power from a 10A fuse hot in start or run. You can tap in and run your wire straight back along the frame rail to the sensor. It is the GAGES fuse. I doubt you would hurt anything if you stepped up to a 15A to cover your o2 load. Do you still have your air pump? If not this same circuit feeds, on pink/black also, the AIR divert and AIR select vavles

As far as my tach, I cannot remember what I'm tapped into. I used a four pin wiring harness to make it removable...

Go along under the front edge of the dash and take out 6-8 screws going thru the plastic bezels up into the pad. On the topside, take out a couple screws in the center vent area and on each side near the A pillars.

And do be careful, you will then need to lift the edge nearest you just enough to clear all the trim, I think an inch or so will do, then pull towards you. There are a few retaining clips at the firewall, pulling the dash will release them. BE CAREFUL the dash is basically foam with a thin plastic covering, squeeze, pry or lift too much and you risk cracking it.

Thanks guys. I will hit it (no pun intended) tonight. Will I be able to see down in the cavity behind the breadbox too? Maybe I can replace the faulty stereo relay while I am there.
