does anyone have a msd digital 6 ignition?
i have a digital 6 im putting in my 91. i have the gm hei wiring adaptor so it will be easy to install but i have been told the you need to bypass the tach filter.if anyone has this installed can you tell me how you bypass the filter. if you had to.. thanks

I have an MSD 6 in garage too, but have not installed yet. Looking forward to the answer as well. Where are you going to install it? Some do it near the overflow bottle. I have seen one mounted near or on the computer on drivers side. Good Luck on your install.

i was gonna put it on the drivers side in the front of the wheel. but you need to get to the adjustments and it might be hard to get to.

the tach filter is on a white wire. It is bolted to the back of the drivers side head. you simply cut out the filter and run that wire to the MSd tach out. simple as that.

I can see and adjust the settings on it like this. but it is a little ways down in there. it is also mounted at an angle.
If the guy on ebay was not dickin me around, I would already have my digi cam and could of posted some pics.

im not quiet clear on the tach filter. i see a small round thing behind the drivers head but it looks like it had 3 wire going to it. it doesnt say that you need to run the wire from the tach filter to msd. it just says bypass.

The filter looks like a capacitor type thing.
I unbolted mine from the back of the head, and cut it off.
now one end of the wire runs to the dist, the othe rend goes into the wire harness/tach.
I had no luck getting mine to work through the dist. so I just ran a wire from the MSD tach out, to the wire that goes to the harness/tach.
If your will work with the dist running the tack, all you have to do is cut out the filter, and splice the wires back together.
there should only be 2 wires. one in, and one out.

mine was a cylinder. with a metal strap around it. the metal was what held it to the head.

the filter as I remember it, is something like 1/2" by maybe 2" long.
