Default Sticky Throttle

On my '88, when going from idle to accelerate, the throttle has what I would call a hard spot or a sticking sensation. This only happens right off idle. I push the pedal, then all of a sudden it opens. Not making a very smooth transition. This is especially frustrating when taking off (it is a 4+3). I have disconnected the throttle cable at the throttle body, and it operates smooth as silk. Not even the slightest hint of sticking. The throttle body is a new BBK Edelbrock. Which was on the car when I bought it. I suspect it was installed to "correct" this problem. It too operates smooth as silk without a hint of sticking of binding. I have disconected the cruise cont. cable and it makes no difference. The throttle still sticks right off idle. Any ideas?

Try lubing up the throttle linkage with some WD-40, worked for me.

Yours is a common complaint. Most are caused by worn throttle shaft bearing area in the TB. Since you have a nearly new TB, that may not be the case. I suspect that the geometry of the linkage on the TB is contributing to the problem, but I don't know of a way to fix that. Are you sure the Throttle plates are not binding slightly at closed throttle? It doesn't take much. Trying to lubricate the TB shaft would be worth a try as was previously posted. Have you set the minimum idle speed? Could be that the plates are binding because they are closing too much. Good Luck.
