Default another electric water pump question

I plan on wiring the waterpump tomorrow. I understand that I should use the pink wire feeding the signal to the fans as the signal wire to turn on the relay for the pump. Ok, heres my question, dosnt this signal come from the computer, and dosnt it drop out at a set speed (approx. 50mph) to turn the fans off going down the highway? If this is true, wouldnt I loose signal voltage going to the pump and it would go off as well as the fans? Just a thought and I could be way off base here.

No, the computer controlles the ground. The pink wire stays hot. :steering:

Just remember the pink wire is hot with the key on/start. The fans are controlled by the ECM by grounding to complete the circuit or break it. Agood place to ground your electric pump in just below the fan relays where the black wires are grounded to the frame with a bolt. Just use a quality terminal.

Ok, I used the pink/black wire for signal, and ground directly below to frame. The relay I used is a fan relay conversion kit available from ecklers for 84-87 vettes. It gives you the connectors, relay, bracket, etc. to convert a 84-87 vette relay to the new style 88 and up. The relay is a fan relay identical to the two already on the car. I mounted it directly below the radiator hose on the fan shroud and left my wiring about 8 in. long so if the relay would die I can move the connector over to one of my fan relays in an emergency. I want to get a set of the weatherpak connectors to replace the connectors that came with the pump. Hope to get that done this weekend.
