Ok let me start from the beginning. About 2 months ago my brothers car started acting funny, and started stalling out alot. After taking it to the shop they quoted leaking injectors. We ordered some slp injectors and installed them soon after. Ever since they have been put in however, the fuel rail will not hold pressure. I have done everything I know how to do to check it for leaks but cant figure out why it wont hold pressure. I pulled the rail and pressurized it, no sign of drips or leaks, the pressure just slowly falls off over the course of about a minute or so. I clamped the sending line after pressurizing the rail to check the pump check valve and it still wouldnt hold pressure. The fuel pressure regulator is only about a month old, and when i pulled it out it didnt have any tears in the membrane. I also checked to make sure the cold start injector was not leaking and it is ok as well. What else in the fuel system could be causing this pressure loss?? I see no signs of leakage anywhere in the fuel lines either, like under the car or by the pump.
It sounds like you proved it wasn't the fuel pump check valve, by crimping the supply line. Have you proved it isn't the regulator, by crimping the return line? If it isn't either, one of the new injectors must be leaking. Since it's a closed system, there are only so many opportunities for a pressure drop. Good luck, and...
Does this car happen to have an adjustable fuel pressure regulator?? I've seen many AFPR's that won't hold pressure. They hold volume, but bleed pressure off thru/around the adjuster screw threads, usually takes around a minute or so to fully bleed off. When this happens it does not affect performance or starting.
Some AFPR's hold pressure some won't; depends on how well the adjuster threads/back side of the diaphragm is sealed.
What problem is the pressure loss causing? I'm assuming the injectors fixed the initial stalling problem?
Well i changed back to the stock regulator with a new diagphram and the car starts way easier but still wont run right :mad :mad :cuss :cuss
