I have been getting high off of gas fumes for about a week now. It only seems to happen when I have more than about a 1/2 tank of gas and while I'm cruising at highway speeds or if I hit the gas hard or turn fast. I thought it was the fuel sender gasket, which I just replaced, but it didn't solve the problem.
I see no fuel leaks anywhere, however when I stick my nose right next to the vapor canister while the car is running I smell a slight amount of fuel sometimes. Should I be able to smell the canister at all?
Check if your canister is loading... If it is you may have a plugged line
or one of the vacuum switches is bad....You're close though...
I replaced all that stuff and still get gasoline odors when driving..

What do you mean by "loading"?
He means that the fumes from the gas tank are being directed into the canister. The line between the tank and canister could be ruptured or even the canister itself.
Loaded up with fuel. My vapor canister actually got clogged and started leaking liquid fuel out of it! For a couple weeks I noticed a fuel smell and a wet spot near the nose of the car. Finally completely went when I was at an AutoX, leaking like crazy.
If you car has the charcol can in front bumper you should check the steel line that runs under car. About where the rear wheel is there is a 3 inch piece of rubber that cracks and leaks fumes. ckeck this. This is a 30 cent fix . I changed a lot of things before I found this. Hope it helps.
Just a thought but my fuel pressure regulator was leaking gas past the diaphram into the vacuum system. I could smell gas sometimes as well. Pull the vacuum line off of the FPR with the car running and see if gas is coming out of the nipple. Good luck, Robert :smash: :smash:
Also check your fuel line hoses under your A/C motor. They can get brittle and spray gasoline all over the exhaust pipes which will ruin your day. I read a post a while back on this happening alot with faulty hoses. one is a delivery hose and one a return hose. I believe they use rubber because this is where the engine flexes with the body. I bought a B/C rated fire extinguisher all because of that post that I read. Everyone should have a fire extinguisher in their vette. I placed mine on the roof over my right shoulder. It actually looks pretty cool. The only drqwback is when I remove the top it weighs about 2 lbs more. And when storing it in the trunk, it is easily accesible from the storage bracket because it turns towards the driver. Fiberglass is very flamable, everyone ,get a fire extinguisher. :mad
