I just picked up the manual fan switch wiring harness from Mid-America and,
I can see where I will mount the switch, I can see which wires I connect to at the two relays. What I DON'T see is where I'm going to pass the two wires thru the firewall ! If anyone else has made this mod, I would really appreciate your input on how to get from the driver side to the engine side.
Thanks
Re: Manual Fan Switch thru firewall ? (Wile'sVette)
If you have a mid 90's like a 94, there is a hole with a rubber grommet behind the battery into the firewall. You must remove the battery, and then take a straightened coat hanger, tape the switch wires to the end and push the hanger thru the rubber grommet/hole. It will come out just above the clutch/brake pedal area underneath the dash. Untape the wires , mount the switch under the dash area on the covered mounting facia near your right hand. Ground the switch wire to one of the mopunting screws that you removed to get at the lower dash facia material. Bore a small hole into the materail and your switch is mounted.

Someone actually sells a manual fan switch KIT??? What will they think of next, bottled water? :lolg: When I hooked up my Radio Shack switch, I was able to force the two wires through the grommet with the hood cables. Don't do it. After I rearranged the wires so the hood would open, it still was stiff. I credit my hood cable failure to that set up. I drilled a small hole, after I replaced the hood cables, just below the hood cable grommet, where it can't be seen. Good luck, and...

I ran the ground to the bolt that goes to the frame that is behind the battery. Takes some extra wire, but I think the ground is better
Mines an 87, but this weekend a buddy and I ran a new ground wire from the ambient sensor to ground in engine compartment. He tried everything- until I was blue in the face :mad I finally said "I'm getting my bailing wire" we found a small opening-and Wham-Wham, you know Emeral? through it went :D Bailing wire forever :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D
Re: Manual Fan Switch thru firewall ? (Wile'sVette)
Sorry about any confusion I may have caused.
Didn't know about the grommet behind the battery on later models (I have an 86)
Good luck with the install!
