Eckler's lists an FX3 race shock absorber controller for $180. (part #41322) I confirmed, via e-mail, that it is a direct replacement for the standard controller ($1100/$1200). I'd love to know how this sucker works. Any body ever use one? They also list a two wheel controller for the same price.

It has a removable chip installed. You buy spare chips that are set up for different applications.
Gives you the ability to have different shock settings for road racing (multiple courses), autocross, drag racing and so. Each chip is roughly around 60.00
Rippie is the one that designed it that I know of.

OK, thanks for the feedback. Sounds really interesting. I wonder if there is a "street" chip too? This is what I love about being a Corvette nut; learn something new almost every day! After 40 years of driving these Ladies, and at 71 years of age, they keep my interest in life vital. I still devour every forum post, my Corvette magazines, etc. with a passion undiminished by my years. I think I may have the Feb 99 issue mentioned somewhere in my mountainous stack of Corvette "junk" (as my poorly informed wife calls it). If I can ever figure out how to get my Ruby into the bedroom, she's history! :D

I have the road race chip as well. If I am not mistaken the soft setting on the new chip is the same as the stock chip, the medium setting on the new chip is the same as the stiff setting on the stock chip (gets firmer as you go faster and softens as you slow down) and the performance setting on the new chip stays firm regardless of speed.

Doug Rippie Motorsports also has controllers and chips for custom tuning of the FX3 system. Bilstein will re-valve FX3 shocks to different settings; they have a package called Sirocco (sp) that is supposedly a very good autocross valving. So you have a really wide range of things you can do to fine-tune the FX3 system.
Some people don't like the cost involved of modifying or repairing the FX3 system but I think it is a fantastic system simply because of what you can do to it. The newer C5's with the F55 suspension is pretty good too but I would bet when that system begins to get old, the costs to repair that will be much higher.

Its actually Morracca. I got it done on my FX3 shocks and i love it.
They actually cautioned me when i told them i wanted it because they said it would be too harsh, but i've found thats not the case (or at least i can take it). I like the harsher ride. Its worth the rebuild. :)

The Moracca valving is named after Tom Moracca, also know as h rocks on the Forum. I believe Tom, DRM and Bilstein were all involved in the custom valving and chips that are available.
