Before I go out and get ripped off, how much should it cost me to get a four wheel alignment done to specs I give them. I'd hate to get the old..."well since it's a Vette, it's going to cost extra."

Re: Alignment cost? (kman0066)
Prices shouldn't vary that much and if they give you that Corvette crap then you will know for sure that's not the place to let do it. More importantly, ask around and you should soon get some concensus who the good alignment shops, people are in your area. It could be at a tire store (less likely) or an independent garage or dealer. Mine was done at a local Buick dealer where the tech took his time and was very meticulous doing it to the specs I gave him.
Damn, midlifecrisis, I hope not! I paid $70 at the aforementioned Buick dealer last year, regular price.
I had my alignment done at the local Chevy dealer. It costs $75.00 for all 4 wheels. I also went with VBP Advanced Street alignment specs...works well for me.
But I've HEARD that Vette's are a little different. They say you have to put it in Drive for final allignment. Someone please chime in! I could be wrong.
I paid $109 and got a 3 year unlimited alignment program.. Any time I feel the need, within this time frame, I go back, and it's free. I'll do it twice/year. The "regular" price for the Vette was $79 for a one-time alignment, I figure it was worth the extra $$
There's a local, family owned shop I use. They have been around for over 30 years, and have an excellent reputation. They charge me $50 for a 4 wheel alignment, and the car tracks straight as an arrow.
I would say any more than $75, and you're getting reamed with the old "Corvette tax". These cars are no harder to align than any other independent rear suspension. Just toe and camber on the rear.
its kinda crazy on vette alignments...its really no different than any other car...but my local Chevy dearler charged me $60.00...a big dealer close to where I work wanted $200 as did the Goodyear dealer...and the Firestone dealer wanted $50....just gotta shop around...
:seeya

My local dealer wants around $100 for it as well- and possibly more if they have "problems." We'll see how that works out... But it's also a competitive price for my area, so I figure the Dealer is just as good as any in this situation. Tire Discounters wanted $250!!! "to do it right" of course... another shop charged $70, but the tech was nice enough to let me know that they've had problems scraping the chassis on low-riding cars like vettes also. Sounds like the unlimited alignments are a good deal, I should have called a few more places! :P
There's nothing I hate more than leaving my keys with someone I don't know- especially when I see them standing in front of the car scratching their heads when I leave!
i got mine done at a place called Custom Alighnment, they deal with alot of high end cars and off road vehicles... there was an 9 second Z06 when i dropped mine off! i definetly would ask around, find a good place. Alot of shops also will look at the car and find something else wrong with the suspension, i think its something like 60-70% of cars on the road have some sort of defect in the suspension, whether small or big shops will look for it.
