Soldering rear defroster?
My connections to the rear defrost on the glass need to be resoldered, however It is difficult because I have to get under the glass to solder it and the solder just falls down instead of sticking to the surface. Any suggestions?
go to you local electronics supply they make solder tape you use that and a heat gun or remove the glass. also try to unhook the shocks you will be surprised how open the top will go.
Conductive epoxy from electronics stores works very well. Kinda expensive though, $20 for a small tube.
:iagree: That stuff does work well indeed! The only problem I have with that stuff is the previous owner of my car used it a bit aggressively (neat but excessive) and then had the windows tinted. That stuff looks like hell between glass and tint if you are planning to tint. I actually am considering a new rear glass. It just looks that bad, it really stands out and i hate it... Not bad avice by ANY means, just wanted to give the heads up on how it looks afterward if you plan to tint, no matter how carefully you apply it. If you saw my back glass you'd understand...lol. Hopefully this is all irrelevant to your situation and good luck with the repair.....

Re: Soldering rear defroster? (ir0nmaiden420)
I bought a butane iron from Rat Shack for $20, a butane can from Wally World for $1, and soldered mine back on...
Oh, the solder also sticks easier if you use a little solder resin, a very light coating on the surface you're soldering... The solder goes to it like a magnet...
