Since 400 block run hot. This is what I'm doing to keep it cool.

1. Triple core radiator
2. Koolflow water pump
3. 2 External fan in the front
4. Rear stock fan
5. 175-185 Degree thermostat (Not sure yet).
6. Aux switch for the fans
7. New air dam

My temps stay 180-200 degrees in town even it the hottest days. Even lower on the freeway. :D :D

I have the following

1. TPIS 170 degree thermostat, with 4 small holes drilled in it.

2. 70/30 coolant to water mixture.

3. Low Temp Fan switch.

4. Stock radiator and water pump.

I have an 87 and the biggest thing that keeps my coolant temps at the stock thermostat (195 F) was the installation of a Stewart water pump when replacement of the stock pump was needed. Also, I keep my radiator clean. Road debris collects on the front and I blast water backwards through the radiator periodically and then flush it out by blasting water around the radiator cap gap.

Your temps aren't out of line. If you are concerned, pull the radiator, and clean between the rad and AC condenser. These bottom feeders just love to vacuum clean the road and pack the debris in there. Regular cooling system flushes and maintenance, will help keep things in good working order. Do the above and pour in a bottle of "Water Wetter", and you should be all set. Good luck, and...

RACE ON!!!

:iagree: If you have never cleaned between the radiator then it is a must.

Great guys, I'll try cleaning it out first. I just bought the car last summer so it's posible that it has never been cleaned. Thanks, Ray
