I have a replacement mirror joystick that I need to install. The only way it appears to be removeable is if I pull the console up. I have removed every screw I can find but it still seems rather secure. Can anyone offer pointers on this so I don't damage anything? Thanks!! :D
Just got my manual out. There are six screws holding it in. 2 by the heater control, 2 by the window switches and 2 inside the the console cover. I believe 1 holds the tab that the console covers locks on to. Hope this helps.
Oh yes, I forgot the two visible screws near the window switches. I just checked and I definitely only have 2 screws in the glove box, both visible - I don't have any 'removeable tabs', what do they look like 86 Pacecar ?
Well I got it out but never did find those 2 screws in the console area OR around the power windows switches. Sure they are there on 88's? Anyway I actually had some success this weekend. I successfully replaced the power mirror joystick, one of the power window switches and the rear hatch solenoid. Everything worked! Amazing, but true.
Tons more to do but those little battles help make it seem worthwhile.
Well, main thing is that you got the job done, but it is strange, my 88 has 6 screws all as mentioned. The ones on the top of the console are 1" behind the power window switches.
