Boy u guys are lucky u dont live in California. The smog tests out here are getting so tuff you be lucky if any car older then 5 years old will pass.

Not in California, visual or otherwise.
On my '85 Z51, the technicians always had to floor it around the block to heat the cats up enough to pass the sniffer. But maybe that was just an excuse to drive someone's Corvette hard with their permission, ha.
