Default Muffler Eliminators

Anyone with a 90-91 Corvette that has the factory front y-pipe with cats as well as the factory main cat using muffler eliminators? If so, is it very loud. Is it a lot louder than say, a Magnaflow cat back? I want good performance, looks , and sound without it being NASCAR loud. Advice?

If it helps any I have a 94' LT-1 with no mufflers. Factory Y-pipe and cats with center resonator, just no mufflers.

I think it is too quiet at idle, sound good taking off, but still not like other C5's in my club. I wish it sounded like thiers.

I have no problem with any mid-cruise noise either.

I have always wondered what the fuss was about noise with elims?

I'd just cut the mufflers off and weld the tips back on.

i sawed off my mufflers on my 96 :D im goin to running it straight out... i dont know how much muffler elims actually muffler so i couldnt say.. but i do know with no mufflers at all it was still quiet. Idle was very quiet, but off the line it sounded a little mean, so i went ahead and removed the resagnator and put an X-pipe in :D :D

What kind of X pipe, and where did you put it in the flow? Any pics?

I would be interested in doing this as well. Sounds like another low cost way of getting a more aggressive sounding exhaust.

I used to run muff. eliminators on my LT1 and, yes they are loud. Not on the inside of the car, but plenty on the outside. Not illgeal type loud, but people will know you're coming. The cat-back system would be quieter with the mufflers of course. Since you are concerned about the noise, I'm not really sure you'd like the muffler eliminators.

If you are going to purchase on or the other, then cut the mufflers off, listen to this sound. This is what it will sound like, it you like it, buy the eliminators, if not, buy a cat-back.
